Summer learning journey

Today we started our summer learning journey day 1. Me and my friends picked to colour in a clock tower. Here it is, will you be doing summer learning journey this summer?. To be honest I have no clue what we learnt from this I think it might be colour with bright colours.

Speech

Today I am going to be sharing my leavers speech writing with you. This is my speech for the year six leavers function.  This year it is being held during the day not at night like it usually is

I would like to thank Miss Scott for being there for me and being a 25 % good math teacher. And I would also like to thank Taylor for being my friend the whole time i've been at Hornby Primary School.

Some of my favourite highlights Were beating Jaydens basketball team when we were doing 3 on 3s Jayden walked off the court crying.

My most embarrassing moment was when me and Laiseni showed up to our basketball  game. But we showed up to the wrong game at the wrong time.

EOTC

 Hello bloggers.  For half of this week and half of the week before we have been going away and doing different activities like Adrenaline forest, Mega air,swimming, top team competitions. Then on Monday the next week we did Phat sk8 roller skating, then on Tuesday we did a little 'Amazing Race' going around the centre of  town and did activities in groups of around 6  people per group.  My group finished second! Then on the fifth and final day we did surfing  over in Sumner. Our group leader was Henry he was shaka as.

Athletics

 Hello bloggers. Today I will be sharing with you how our athletics went. I think I either tied for first in high jump or came second and I think I came third in discus and sixth in long distance, and of these three events I beat my friend Jayden in all of them.

Swimming

 Hello bloggers Im going to be sharing with you how our swimming has been going. And what we have learned. We have learned to backstroke,freestyle and a bunch of water safety but my least  favourite was freestyle. 

Inter class sport

I'm going to be sharing with you how our inter class sports been going. We won soccer against room 8 and we won touch against room 8 so we will be vs the teachers today at lunch for both of those sports. And we will be taking 2 more dubs back to our class.

Swimming safety

 Hello bloggers me and my friend Taylor have been doing our reading follow up work for this week.We have had to do work about swimming safety.

Athletics practice

 Hello bloggers today I am going to be sharing with yous how our athletics practice went. 

First off we started with shot put my first go I threw it about 9.5 meters then we had another 2 goes. Then we proceeded to go to high jump. At high jump on my 2nd go I banged my nose on my knee. But I still made it over. Then when we finished at high jump we started heading over to sprints. On my first go I came second. Then on my next one I bet the teacher.

100 word count

 Hello bloggers today I'm going to be showing you our 100 word count writing that we have to do. We have to make a story with 100 words.  We are given and either 5 words, or 1 word, or a photo  that has to be included in the story.  Here is my story that had to include the word "Terrifying".

 

Cloze

 Hello bloggers today I'm  going to tell you about our cloze. Each week we get a story with some of the words missing we have to figure the words out by using our list of words. We have to get them done weekly.  Here is my activity called "Grandparent's Day".

Winter learning

 Hello bloggers today our teacher showed us one of the winter learning journey activities. One of the activities it to play Carmen Sandiago.  In this game you are a detective.  You have to go all over the world and ask strangers questions about whether they have seen the bad guy. Once you find the Bad guy the game is over.

  

Paper mache

 Hello bloggers Lewis and I have finished our paper mache. We have named him Pepermen we put a layer of white paper so we could  paint him brown but the brown turned out to be red and green then Miss Scott put a weird looking nose on.

Kiwi

 Hello bloggers Lewis and I have been making a paper mache of a kiwi. We had to shape the body with netting then we had to get wet glue and news paper for the body Lewis and I are not done yet we have to go over the news paper with white paper and add legs and feathers.

 

Seeds

Hello bloggers on Wednesday we had to do work about  seeds.  Lewis and I did a google  drawing together. We were basically just explaining how seeds travel. We still are not done. So we still need to do more.

Kauri snail

 Hello bloggers Today i am going to be sharing my kauri snail work we have been working on it for about 1 week we had to do . What you can do to help it . 3 facts. where it lives. Threats to it .adn are they decomposer or pollinator.

 Hello Bloggers today I am going to be sharing my Layers of the rain forest. We have been learning about rain forest and all of the trees and how much sun gets to the trees and stuff like that. Here is a photo of what I have done.

Friday night basketball

I am  going to be telling you about Friday night Basketball. Tonight we have our first game I am in the Hornby Hoopsters  we are going to vs the South Hornby Cobras at South Hornby. I am in a teal singlet uniform and I am number 9. Here are some photos from last term.

Rugby fun day

 On Friday the 7th of May I was lucky enough to represent Hornby Primary in a Rugby fun day at Burnside park with a group of students. 

We played 3 games. Our first game was against Oxford.  Then we played Springston and finally Halswell.  We were lucky enough to go home with 3/3 wins. 

We would like to thank  our coach  Jamie. And all of the parents and supporters including Keri. And thanks to all of the teams who came out.

Hot Chocolate

 Hello bloggers we have been working on making a google doc on how to make a Hot Chocolate. This is what I have wrote down let me know in the comments how you make a Hot Chocolate. 

Cross country

 Hello bloggers on Wednesday our teacher told us that the next day we would have to do cross country so  we got to school the next day ready to do it. We had to run 2ks. I'm  a year six so I had to run with the year six boys and girls I came 5th out of 22 people. It was a difficult track. We had to run on a hill side ways. I kept hurting my ankle on the hill.

 

Hydra boat

 Hello bloggers On Friday to Monday I went to the west coast for hydra boat racing. The people I was helping boat's name is Lady New Zealand. We come first in the  Kaniere Cup so we got a trophy. And it was the last race of the season so we will do more racing next year. This a photos of the boat here. 

 

Rugby league

 Hello bloggers. Yesterday we had rugby league trials. We had to play a game of rugby league but 4 people had no mouth guard so they had to touch us instead of tackling. 

Today everyone has their mouth guards so we will be playing another game and everyone can tackle.  

If you get picked for the team you have to go to a tournament day and vs a bunch of teams. Last year we the won the whole tournament (but we only versed one team because Covid meant lots of teams pulled out of the tournament).

Reading activity

 Hello bloggers me and my buddy Taylor have been working on our reading  activity. We had to make a slide show on how to be a good friend we wrote down ways to keep friendships and strengthen them go check my slide show out  bye have a good week. 

Football Festival

 Hello bloggers, today we had  Liam and Stu from Halswell football come and do some stuff with us . 

First we played a game called Turtle Tag, you had to run from the sharks they were the taggers  If they tagged you, you had to wait for someone to come and roll you over.  Then you were back up and could kept tagging people. 

Then we played knee tag you had to go around and tag people on the knee. 

Then when we finished that we played 4 games of football. If you won you went up a spot and if you lost you went down a spot my team won 1 out of 4 games. Then we had to pack up and go inside.

Codes

Hello bloggers  for the last week we have been learning about codes. We had to make a code we got to pick out of 7 codes for example here is a code  3114 251521 69721185 152120 1325 31545 if you can figure out my code comment what it is  bye have a good week.
 

Piece of art '-

Hello bloggers today I will  be sharing this piece of art with all of you. First of all we had to watch a you tube video on how to draw the face and the art and  all the patterns around it then we had to get lots of different colors of pastels.  Bye have a great  weekend.

Art

 Hello bloggers this week and last week we have been doing a lot of art. 

First we had to do our mandala its a piece of  paper with lots of patterns and stuff and you had to write down who is  in your family your goals for the year and stuff like that.

Then you would move onto your fabric art. You had to draw 4 hobbies and a self portrait. Then you would have to paint it. I'm not done painting yet. But when I'm done I can move onto drawing a name Alien. 

To make a name alien you draw you name with the letters being back to back.

 Hello bloggers last week on Monday we had our first game of touch. 

Then  last Friday we had a game of 3 on 3 basketball. We have another game today after school. At last Friday's game I got 7 hoops. I can't wait for our game today after school.  We have Rams training after lunch on Friday's.  We do it with Donna and Zach. 

We had buddy class to me and my buddy his name was Zion.We had to colour a sheet and write our names we haven't finished yet

2nd post of 2021

 Hello bloggers. Today I will be sharing about whats been going on in the last week. Last week on Friday afternoon 2 people from the Rams came and taught us a couple of things. The people who where there where Zack and Donna. I put my name down on the list for 3 on 3 basketball, we have our first  game tonight. Ive been looking forward to it for a long time.  Its easy too because where we play is at school so just down the road. 

We have touch on Monday nights too, unfortunately it wasn't on due to Covid level 2.

The Start of 2021

 Hello bloggers. This is my first blog post for 2021. I am in a new class with a nice teacher, Miss Scott. We have done a lot this year all ready.

We did a snow ball fight, we wrote 3 thing about ourselves on a piece of paper and scrunched it up.Then we chucked it at each other then when Miss Scott blew the whistle we picked it up then we had to ask  each other questions to find out who it was to learn about each other.

Elgrego visited  us today to do some magic tricks for us. All the birds and tricks he showed us where amazing.  The birds where so colourful.
